  • The general healing timeline for a tattoo is 2-4 weeks. However, fine line tattoos may take a little longer, closer to 4-6 weeks, to fully heal.
  • It will likely scab and feel itchy. This is all part of the normal healing process.
  • Apply a thin layer of a fragrance-free, antibacterial ointment that your EI tattooist will supply you with for 1-2 weeks.  
  • Avoid wetting your tattoo in baths, showers, or pools for at least 2 weeks.
  • Don’t pick at scabs or dry skin. Picking can cause scarring and ruin the design of your tattoo.
  • Wear loose-fitting, breathable clothing over your tattoo to avoid irritation.
  • Avoid direct sunlight on your healing tattoo. Sun exposure can cause fading and discoloration. Apply sunscreen (SPF 50+) if your tattoo will be exposed to sunlight.
